Shoulder Replacement Treatment
Severe Shoulder Arthritis (Osteoarthritis or Rheumatoid Arthritis)
Irreparable Rotator Cuff Tears
Avascular Necrosis of the Shoulder
Complex Shoulder Fractures
Failed Previous Shoulder Surgery
Chronic Shoulder Pain and Stiffness affecting daily activities
Total Shoulder Replacement
Both the ball (humeral head) and socket (glenoid) are replaced. Best suited for patients with intact rotator cuff muscles.
2. Partial Shoulder Replacement (Hemiarthroplasty)
Only the damaged ball of the shoulder joint is replaced. Often used in fracture cases.
3. Reverse Shoulder Replacement
The natural anatomy is reversed, allowing the deltoid muscle to move the arm instead of the damaged rotator cuff. Ideal for patients with:
Massive rotator cuff tears
Severe arthritis with cuff deficiency
Confirm shoulder dislocation
Identify fractures or bone damage
Assess joint alignment before treatment
Persistent shoulder pain not relieved by medication or physiotherapy
Severe stiffness and limited range of motion
Difficulty lifting the arm or performing daily activities
Night pain disturbing sleep
Progressive weakness of the shoulder
Detailed clinical examination
X-rays to assess joint damage
MRI or CT scan (if required) to evaluate soft tissue and bone quality
This ensures the most appropriate surgical plan and implant selection.
